Business in the capital with a poor record of false alarms could now face charges for unnecessary fire brigade call-outs in a move designed to encourage better management of automatic fire alarm systems.
On 1 January the London Fire Brigade (LFB) became the first fire and rescue authority in the UK to recover its costs if it is forced to attend a property for a false alarm 10 times or more in the course of the year.
